11 year 7 Newton Abbot College boys went to Teignmouth Community College having only played rugby in a few practice sessions. Teignmouth had a large experienced squad of over 15 and started of the match very strong. They quickly scored a couple of trys. However, the year 7 boys began to work as a team and started to put in some good tackles. Brad Baker and Luke Underhill made some excellent tackles making sure that Teignmouth did not build to much of a lead. Captain Gareth Penrice began to organize the team so that they did not give Teignmouth to many opportunities. Tim Mosdale got stuck in to the scums and with Harry Pierce turning over the ball the Newton Abbot boys started to show Teignmouth how good they can be when putting all their effort into the game. At half time, team coach Mr Mallett prepared them for the upcoming half. At the start of the second half Daniel Nelson, Jordan Picot and Jake Stratton-Arisoy supported Ben Stephenson who made some good runs. They were holding Teignmouth back and soon pulled back a try by an outstanding run from Charlie Cooper. Teignmouth came back strong edging towards the try line but despite Ross Candler's tackle to take a player out of play the team could not stop Teignmouth from scoring the final try. Mr Mallett said "he was extremely proud of the boys performance" and Miss West who was watching the game said "it was an excellent team effort and the boys really improved during the match". Gareth Penrice voted Charlie Cooper man of the match
